Nigerian Meteorological Agency Predicts 3-Day Period of Hazy and Cloudy Weather

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast indicating haziness and cloudiness throughout the country from Monday to Wednesday.

According to NiMet’s weather outlook released in Abuja on Sunday, moderate dust haze with a horizontal visibility range of 2km to 5km is predicted for the northern and North Central states. However, patches of clouds in a hazy atmosphere are expected in Benue, Kogi, and Kwara. The Inland South region will experience patches of clouds throughout the forecast period.

In the morning, the coastal areas will have patches of clouds, with a chance of isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening hours in Edo, Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states.

The Inland South and the Coast will have patches of clouds in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms expected later in the day in Ondo, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, Osun, Edo, Imo, Enugu, Lagos, Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states.

Wednesday’s forecast predicts a slight dust haze in the northern region. The North Central region, except for parts of Plateau, Kwara, Benue, and Kogi states, will experience patches of cloud in a hazy atmosphere. Isolated thunderstorms are expected later in the day in those areas.

NiMet advises individuals with respiratory issues to wear face masks whenever possible and to take caution due to the present weather conditions. It also suggests that children and the elderly wear warm clothing at night, pay special attention to their skin, eyes, and lips, and moisturize them as much as possible.

Airline operators are urged to obtain updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet to ensure effective planning for their operations.
