Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) Predicts Three-Day Period of Haze and Thunderstorms Starting Thursday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has announced that from Thursday to Saturday, the country will experience haziness and thunderstorms.

According to NiMet’s weather outlook issued in Abuja on Wednesday, moderate dust haze is expected on Thursday, with visibility ranging from 2km to 5km. The northern parts of the country are likely to experience localized visibility of less than 1km throughout the three-day period.

NiMet also mentioned that the North Central region will have a slight dust haze, along with patches of cloud over certain areas such as Kogi, Benue, and Kwara. Inland states can expect a cloudy atmosphere with occasional spells of sunshine.

During the afternoon and evening hours, isolated thunderstorms may occur in parts of Ondo, Osun, Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, Lagos, and Ogun.

NiMet highlighted that on Friday, thick dust haze is anticipated in the northern parts of the country. It advised the public to consider using face masks due to the presence of dust particles in the atmosphere.

The agency also emphasized the importance for airline operators to stay updated with NiMet’s weather reports and forecasts to ensure effective planning of their operations.
