NiMet Predicts Three Days of Sunny Weather with Hazy Conditions

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has provided a weather forecast indicating a stretch of sunny and hazy conditions across the country from Monday to Wednesday.

According to NiMet’s weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, the northern region is expected to experience sunny and hazy weather throughout the forecast period. In the North Central states, cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine are anticipated, with a possibility of localized thunderstorms in parts of Benue State during the morning hours.

As the day progresses, localized thunderstorms are expected over parts of Benue and Kogi. In the Inland states of the South and coastal cities, increased cloudiness is predicted in the morning, along with chances of morning thunderstorms in parts of Imo, Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi, Abia, Cross River, Rivers, and Delta states.

Later in the day, localized thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Osun, Ekiti, Ogun, Edo, Ondo, Oyo, Imo, Abia, Enugu, Anambra, Cross River, Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, and Lagos states.

On Tuesday, the northern region is expected to maintain a sunny and hazy atmosphere throughout the forecast period. However, there could be localized thunderstorms in parts of Taraba and Kaduna states during the evening hours.

In the North Central region, patches of clouds are expected with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms in parts of Kogi, Nasarawa, Benue, and the Federal Capital Territory during the morning hours. Later in the day, localized thunderstorms are forecasted over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara, Nasarawa, and Kogi states.

For the inland areas of the South and coastal cities, cloudy skies are envisaged with prospects of isolated thunderstorms in parts of Lagos State during the morning period. In the afternoon and evening hours, localized thunderstorms are expected in parts of Osun, Oyo, Ondo, Ogun, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Anambra, Cross River, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Lagos, and Delta states.

Wednesday will see a continuation of sunny and hazy conditions in the northern region. The North Central region is anticipated to have increased cloudiness with chances of early morning thunderstorms in parts of Plateau, Nasarawa, and the Federal Capital Territory. Later in the day, localized thunderstorms are expected over parts of Kwara, Nasarawa, and Kogi states.

Cloudy skies are expected in the inland cities of the South and coastal areas, with isolated thunderstorms likely in parts of Imo, Ebonyi, Abia, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Lagos states during the morning hours. In the afternoon and evening periods, localised thunderstorms are anticipated in parts of Abia, Ogun, Edo, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Lagos states.

NiMet advises the public to take adequate precautions as strong winds may precede rains in areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur. It also emphasizes the importance of staying hydrated, particularly in the North where temperature values remain high. Airline operators are encouraged to obtain updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.
