Leaders in Tudun Biri village, located in Kaduna State, have disavowed any involvement in a legal action against the military regarding the accidental bombing of their community.

Reports had emerged stating that individuals had filed a lawsuit against the federal government, seeking N33 billion in compensation on behalf of the affected community.

However, Balarabe Garba, the village head of Ifira, along with a delegation of affected villagers, clarified during a meeting with Governor Uba Sani that they were not aware of any legal team representing them in seeking compensation.

Garba emphasized that the villagers were satisfied with the response they had received from the state government, federal government, military, and fellow Nigerians since the incident occurred.

He stated, “We are not part of the legal suit instituted against the federal government. We are law-abiding citizens and will not allow ourselves to be used by anyone.”

Reverend Musa Saidu, a resident of the village, highlighted the peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims in the mixed community. He affirmed that they would not permit any attempts to sow division among them.

Governor Uba Sani expressed his satisfaction with the villagers’ stance and pledged to identify those who were attempting to exploit the villagers’ names for personal gain or to cause trouble in the state.

The governor also announced that all donations received thus far from the President and other government officials would be handed over to a committee. This committee, which will include five members from the affected families, will be responsible for ensuring the funds are used judiciously for the overall benefit of everyone in the village.
