Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has announced that the government is investing N11.4 billion in the second phase of palliative distribution. In a statement released on Monday in Kaduna, the governor emphasized the commitment to providing relief to the impoverished and vulnerable individuals in the state. He also revealed plans to commence the implementation of the third phase of the palliative program within the next two months.

Governor Uba Sani stated, “We are allocating N11.4 billion for the distribution of the second batch of palliatives. Our aim is to continue taking necessary measures to alleviate the suffering of the poor and vulnerable in our state. The upcoming phase will be a comprehensive program.”

Furthermore, the governor announced that N3.3 billion has been released to cater to pensions, gratuities, and death benefits for the families of deceased civil servants. Beneficiaries have already started receiving their payments. Additionally, civil servants have begun benefiting from a revolving loan scheme worth £500 million.

Expressing satisfaction with the commencement of the second round of palliative distribution, Governor Uba Sani highlighted that 128 trucks carrying rice and maize worth N3.4 billion are being distributed. The state government aims to reach 200,000 households, totaling approximately 1,000,000 people. The governor assured that the trucks carrying the essential food items have been dispatched to various local governments to alleviate the hardships faced by the less privileged citizens.

Governor Uba Sani also mentioned that the state has initiated other intervention programs with a sense of urgency. A total of N4.2 billion has been allocated for cash grants, fertilizers, farm inputs, and implements. The government has already started disbursing grants to 7,500 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), with amounts ranging from N100,000 to N500,000, depending on the size of the businesses. Additionally, 5,091 farmers have received fertilizers, farm inputs, and implements to support their agricultural activities.
