Northern Clerics Hold Meeting with Chief of Defence Staff Following Kaduna Bombing

A meeting took place between the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, and Islamic clerics from the Northern region who are part of the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria.

The meeting was held in response to the accidental bombing that occurred in Kaduna State, resulting in the loss of over 100 innocent lives and leaving dozens injured.

During the meeting at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, the clerics, led by Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar, expressed their concerns. In response, the Chief of Defence Staff assured them that the military had already taken action and would investigate the incident thoroughly.

“We will do everything possible to uncover the truth and ensure that it does not happen again,” said Gen. Musa, as quoted by the Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, during a press briefing after the closed-door meeting.

Gen. Musa conveyed his unwavering commitment to maintaining peace in Nigeria and acknowledged the unfortunate nature of the recent incident. He also pledged to find a lasting solution to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
