Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has addressed claims suggesting his opposition to the practice of Islam in Nigeria.

Wike emphasized that his administration is not enacting laws that go against the alignment of Islamic beliefs.

His comments were made during a meeting with members of the Abuja National Mosque Management Committee, led by Chairman His Royal Highness Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, the Etsu of Nupe.

Wike dismissed the notion that he harbors any hatred towards a particular religious group in Nigeria, stating that he would instead support those fighting for noble causes. He emphasized the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence, urging religious leaders to promote these values.

The Minister assured that the FCT would provide necessary support for the maintenance of the National Mosque and the National Ecumenical Centre, both of which hold national significance as monuments.

Additionally, the Etsu Nupe requested the Minister’s assistance in resuming the maintenance project for the National Mosque, which has faced delays in recent times.
