Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has acknowledged the intervention of President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State, which has resulted in the independent functioning of the executive, legislature, and judiciary in the state.

Wike made this declaration while addressing journalists regarding his political dispute with Fubara. He emphasized that thanks to the President’s involvement, peace has been restored and all three branches of government are working independently.

The political conflict between Wike and Fubara had escalated, leading to the burning of the state legislative chambers three months ago by lawmakers believed to be loyal to Fubara. As a result, some commissioners and lawmakers who were loyal to Wike resigned from the state executive council and defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, President Tinubu intervened in the dispute and compelled the parties involved to sign a peace agreement. As part of this agreement, Fubara renominated the commissioners who had resigned, and they were subsequently sworn in.
