The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State graduated from an intensive six-month training program on Friday, then recruited a total number of 190 newly officers.

During the ceremony, Commandant Umar Mohammed, the Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC, urged the 2023 intakes to uphold the highest standards of discipline, respect for human rights, and adherence to the rule of law.

The event, coinciding with the “International Civil Defence Day” observed annually on March 1st, aimed to raise awareness about the importance of civil protection and emergency readiness, as stated in a statement by the command’s spokesman, Ayoola Micheal Shola, in Ilorin on Saturday.

Commandant Umar highlighted that this year’s commemoration, themed “Honour Heroes and Promote Safety Skills,” seeks to recognise the crucial role of civil defence in safeguarding citizens from both natural and man-made disasters.

Congratulating the recruits on completing their training, Commandant Umar described it as qualitative, realistic, and tailored to meet the contemporary security needs of the country. He urged them to demonstrate a strong sense of loyalty, professionalism, and discipline in order to succeed in their careers.
