The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Abia State, Paul Ugwu, has revealed plans to establish two additional Area Commands within the state. This initiative aims to improve response times in the event of road accidents.

During his visit to the Secretary to Abia State government, Professor Kenneth Kalu, Ugwu emphasized that the FRSC plays a crucial role in ensuring road orderliness and reducing accidents on Nigerian roads. The organization is dedicated to enforcing road safety measures to protect the lives of road users.

Mr Ugwu also advocated for the construction of a pedestrian bridge at the Ubakala junction on the Aba-Umuahia-Enugu federal highway, which would provide safety for pedestrians crossing the busy expressway.

Furthermore, he appealed to the State government to include the FRSC in the State’s security council and to provide his Command with operational vehicles to enhance their operations across the state.

In response, Professor Kenneth Kalu, the Secretary to the Abia State government, acknowledged the significance of the FRSC for every state government, considering its vital role. He assured Ugwu of the Abia State government’s commitment to collaborate with the FRSC on matters concerning transport, traffic, and safety policies.
