The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has established more than 200 mobile courts to prosecute traffic offenders.

The statement released by Jonas Agwu, the Corps Public Education Officer, on Wednesday emphasized that the mobile courts were set up to guarantee a safe and smooth Easter celebration in 2024.

The Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu, urged the FRSC to ensure the swift removal of any obstructions on all highways throughout the country. Biu instructed commanding officers to fully deploy staff for maximum visibility, efficient obstruction clearance, and smooth traffic flow in accordance with the operational guidelines for this year’s Easter special patrol, scheduled to commence from March 29 to April 2, 2024.

As outlined in the operation order, the special operations aim to reduce road traffic crashes, fatalities, and injuries while ensuring a prompt response to road traffic crash victims.

Aggressive enforcement measures will be implemented, including conducting over 200 mobile court operations to address various traffic offenses. Speeding, dangerous driving/overtaking, lane indiscipline/route violation, road obstruction, use of mobile phones while driving, and overloading will be closely monitored and enforced.

To support the Easter special patrol, the FRSC has deployed a fleet of over 743 patrol vehicles, 184 administrative vehicles, and 92 ambulances across the country. These resources will enhance the FRSC’s ability to maintain safety, provide assistance, and respond effectively to any incidents during the holiday period.
