Zamfara community witnesses numerous casualties and abductions by bandits

Suspected terrorists, armed with guns, launched an attack on Kwatar community, situated near Gidan Zala in Kotorkoshi district of Bungudu Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

The assailants caused significant casualties and abducted numerous villagers.

Reports indicate that the bandits struck the community during the early hours of Friday, and unfortunately, security operatives were not present to intervene at the time.

Ismaila, a police officer hailing from the village, revealed that the terrorists killed many villagers during the harrowing incident.

Additionally, several individuals were taken captive, while others managed to escape with varying degrees of injuries as a result of the deadly assault.

My father, elder brother and his wife were also killed along with many villagers in the attack”, he added. 

Continuing, he mentioned that nearly all the surviving villagers have fled the community due to the apprehension of the bandits’ potential return.

Another villager, Ya’u Ibrahim, shared with Vistanaij Media that the attack was dreadful, highlighting that numerous community members suffered severe injuries while attempting to escape from the violent assault.

He earnestly appealed to the Federal Government to promptly declare a state of emergency in the State, providing the residents with a chance to experience a sense of freedom.

On the same day, armed bandits launched a terrifying attack on a village near Dangibga village in Tsafe Local Government Area of the State. The exact number of casualties has not been disclosed at this time of compiling this report.

This source can confidently assert that the area leading to Tsafe Local Government Area of the State has become a stronghold for bandits.

Despite efforts to reach the police for their comments, they were unresponsive, as the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yazeed Abdulahi, declined to answer calls.
