In a tragic incident, unidentified gunmen killed a couple, suspected to be husband and wife, and left their bodies in the trunk of their Toyota Camry with the registration number EE-621-EU.

Early Wednesday morning, passers-by discovered the two lifeless bodies drenched in blood at a secluded location along the Tempo Junction, Umunya axis of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.

A circulating video on social media shows a dark-colored Toyota Corolla surrounded by pedestrians. The car doors are wide open, and the bodies of the couple are placed in the trunk.

The presence of blood dripping from beneath the car suggests that the victims were recently murdered.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the incident when contacted. He stated that police personnel from the Oyi Division recovered the bodies and deposited them in a mortuary. Investigations have also been initiated to uncover the circumstances surrounding the couple’s deaths.

Ikenga provided further details, saying, “Police personnel attached to the Oyi Division led by the DPO, at about 7:30 am today, 24/1/2024, recovered two lifeless bodies abandoned in a car trunk along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway. The operatives also recovered the abandoned vehicle and some expended cartridges at the scene. Meanwhile, the bodies have been deposited in the morgue, and investigations have commenced. Preliminary information revealed that the man and woman, who had signs of violence and gunshot injuries all over their bodies, were murdered and abandoned in a black Corolla car with the license plate number Lagos AAA 621 EU. Further details shall be communicated.”

The motive behind the couple’s killing remains unknown, and authorities are working diligently to gather more information about the shocking incident.
