Abduction of 10 Individuals Reported in Abuja Estate by Gunmen

Eyewitnesses reported that a group of gunmen, disguised as herders, stormed the estate at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The investigation revealed that eight people were abducted from the estate, while two employees were taken from a nearby hotel.

One of the victims managed to send a distress message to the estate’s WhatsApp group, alerting them that his family was in danger. Unfortunately, he ceased responding to messages shortly after. Security operatives, in collaboration with the estate’s security guards, have been mobilized to search the hills behind the estate.

A security operative who was attacked and restrained by the kidnappers has been rescued. Efforts to reach the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, for comment were unsuccessful. Calls to her phone went unanswered, and messages were not responded to.

However, contacting the Police emergency call center confirmed that the command was aware of the incident, and the nearest Divisional Police Officer (DPO) had been notified to deploy officers to the scene.

Residents in the uphill area remain in shock following the incident and are pleading for increased protection. The community is in need of immediate security measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
