Tinubu Holds Meeting with Bawa, Chairman of EFCC

Abdulrasheed Bawa, the chairperson of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), held a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday. This encounter took place shortly after Tinubu instructed the Department of State Services (DSS) to evacuate the EFCC’s office in Ikoyi, a decision made less than 24 hours prior.

Bawa arrived at the Villa a little after 2 pm and was escorted to the president’s office complex. While the specific purpose of the meeting was not immediately disclosed, sources within the Villa speculated that it might be related to the reported clash between EFCC operatives and DSS personnel.

President Tinubu had directed the DSS to vacate the EFCC’s office in Ikoyi on Tuesday. He emphasized the importance of resolving any issues between these two significant government agencies amicably, as stated in a press release shared with TheCable by the State House.

The President gave the directive when reports that DSS officials stormed the EFCC office located on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos on Tuesday, preventing officials of the anti-graft agency from accessing their workplace, was brought to his attention,” the statement reads.

The Department of State Services (DSS) hindered the entry of personnel from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Lagos into their office located in Ikoyi.
