Senator Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker, drew a comparison between the plight of the people of Southern Kaduna and the experiences of blacks in South Africa during the apartheid regime.

He expressed his concern over the condition of the people under the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state over the past eight years.

In acknowledging the challenges faced by the people of Southern Kaduna, Senator Shehu Sani commended their resilience and ability to endure what he described as the most difficult period in their existence.

He specifically criticized the administration of Nasir El-Rufai, who led the state under the APC, stating that the people of Southern Kaduna had not experienced such hardships under any previous leader in the history of the state. 

Speaking as the chairman of a party organised by supporters of Senator Sunday Katung Marshal in Kaduna on Saturday, Sani said, “I am always so passionate about the people of Southern Kaduna because the area occupies a special place not only in Kaduna state but in Nigeria as a whole.” 

Senator Shehu Sani praised the resilience and determination of the people of Southern Kaduna in defending their ancestral land, regardless of the challenging circumstances they faced. He also commended their decision to consistently support the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidates in every election.

Senator Sani encouraged the community to offer prayers and support to Senator Sunday Katung Marshal and other representatives from the region, urging them to successfully carry out their official duties and lead their people to a better future. He drew a parallel between the journey of the Israelites from Egypt to the promised land and the task at hand for the representatives.

During the event, Isa Ashiru, the PDP gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 election in the state, called on Senator Sunday Katung Marshal and other representatives from the area to remain focused on their goal. He emphasized the importance of taking necessary actions to restore prosperity to the region and improve the lives of its inhabitants.

In response, Senator Sunday Katung Marshal expressed his gratitude to the organizers of the program. He recognized the challenge presented to him and his fellow representatives, acknowledging their responsibility to fulfill their mandate and enhance the quality of life for the people in the zone. 

According to him, “I decided that I was going to commune with my brothers from the House of Representatives and State House of Assembly to ensure that we do an assessment of the Senatorial District to actually understand what the people really expect. That we have done, we have articulated it and all about security, with security, people will be able to carry out their businesses, go to farm and children go to school without any problem.”
