Shehu Sani Urges Tinubu to Retrieve Funds Stolen from CBN and Humanitarian Ministry During Buhari’s Tenure

Senator Shehu Sani, a former federal lawmaker, has urged the administration led by President Bola Tinubu to take action in recovering funds that were allegedly looted from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development during the previous administration.

The accusations include the illegal acquisition of commercial banks by former CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, and the alleged looting of N37 billion in the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development under former minister Sadiya Umar-Farouk. These incidents of alleged looting took place during the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

In response to these allegations, Senator Sani took to his official X handle on Sunday, stating that the stolen funds should be recovered and directed towards funding public universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and federal government colleges.

His post reads, “President Tinubu should recover money looted from the CBN and the one looted from the Humanitarian ministry under the Buhari ‘integrity’ administration and specifically use it to fund the budget of our public Universities, Polytechnics, COEs, and Federal Government Colleges.”
