In response to a series of violent cult clashes resulting in casualties in the Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State, the LG authorities have implemented a dusk-to-dawn curfew on commercial motorcycles and tricycles.

They argue that these vehicles have played a role in aiding the escape of those involved in the violent incidents. This decision was communicated in a public statement released by the LG Chairman, Jubril Odulate.

According to the statement, it has been observed that after committing these violent acts, the culprits often use motorcycles and tricycles as a means of escape. Therefore, the LG authorities have imposed certain restrictions, effective from Monday, 18th September 2023. These restrictions include operating hours for Okada riders and Maruwa operators, which are now limited from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. until further notice.

Additionally, the statement prohibits nudity and adult entertainment establishments in the Sagamu area and discourages indecent behavior, especially during nighttime. It warns of serious consequences for non-compliance and advises those who cannot adhere to these rules to return to their hometowns, states, or countries.

The Vistanaij Media had reported a violent clash believed to be related to cultism in the Ijagba Sagamu area of Ogun State. Suspected cultists invaded the area, resulting in the deaths of at least four people. Eyewitnesses revealed that the attackers came to target a rival member but ended up killing six people in a house in the Ayegbami community. Two additional individuals were shot dead during the invasion of Ijagba Street beside a local mosque.

The police authorities in Ogun State confirmed the deaths but did not provide an exact number. The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, noted that ending cult clashes in Sagamu requires collaboration between local elders and political elites, emphasizing that he had worked with them in the past to maintain peace in the area.
