Residents of Ogun State Caught Trying to Collect Fuel from Overturned Tanker on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

On Wednesday, residents of Ogun State living along the Lagos-Ibadan highway made an ill-advised attempt to collect fuel from a tanker that had overturned.

After the crash, residents gathered with jerry cans in hand, blocking the highway and causing the spilled fuel to spread.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident, stating that a tanker had crashed near Danco on the outward section of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. The FRSC spokesperson in Ogun State, Florence Okpe, informed the media that a rescue team was present at the scene, the fire service had been contacted, and the area had been cordoned off to prevent any further accidents.

As a result of the overturned tanker, heavy traffic congestion has occurred on the highway, causing significant delays for motorists.
