NYSC Refutes Deployment of Corps Member to Oyo Amotekun

The NYSC (National Youth Service Corps) has officially debunked the circulating story about a corps member being assigned to the Amotekun Corps for their compulsory one-year program.

In a statement released on Saturday, Ms. Christy Olatoye, the Assistant Director of Press and Public Relations for NYSC Oyo State, clarified that Amotekun was not listed as an employer in the NYSC database.

While acknowledging the reputable status of the Western Nigeria Security Network, popularly known as “Amotekun,” Olatoye reiterated that no posting letter for such a deployment had originated from NYSC in Oyo State.

“The NYSC Oyo State has been made aware of a story circulating on social media regarding a corps member posted to Amotekun Corps. I would like to clarify that it is the policy of the National Youth Service Corps to assign corps members to locations where they can be relevant and their services can be effectively utilized.

“While I acknowledge the importance of the Amotekun Corps in their respective field of operation, it is not listed as an employer in our database. We only post corps members to employers registered in our database,” stated Olatoye.

She cautioned against spreading false information that could tarnish the reputation of the NYSC scheme.

“The National Youth Service Corps is a distinguished program that has served our nation for over five decades, recording notable achievements. Therefore, it should not be used as a subject of pranks or misrepresentation,” she emphasized.
