For the 2023 service year’s Batch “B” Stream I, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has assigned a total of 1,316 corps members to Bayelsa State.

The newly deployed corps members were sworn in during a ceremony held on Friday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Boro Town.

During the ceremony, Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, delivered a speech in which he urged the corps members to provide valuable service to both the state and the nation as a whole. He emphasized the importance of delivering high-quality service during their time in Bayelsa.

Governor Diri, represented by Mr Wisdom Poyeri, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on NYSC Matters, also encouraged the corps members to actively engage in all camp activities to enhance their leadership and entrepreneurial abilities. He reassured them that his administration would continue to provide support to the NYSC program in order to accomplish its defined goals. 

In an opening speech, Mrs. Okpalifo Obiageli Charity, the NYSC State Coordinator, revealed that the 1,316 corps members assigned to the state are currently undergoing registration and gradually adapting to the requirements of the orientation program. 

She took the opportunity to express her gratitude to Governor Diri for constructing two additional hostels within the camp, acknowledging that it will facilitate the deployment of a greater number of corps members to the state.

The focal point of the occasion was the recitation of the national and NYSC pledges by the corps members, administered by Justice Maltide Abrakasa Ayemieye, the state’s chief judge.
