Major-General AE Abubakar, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), has cautioned religious leaders in Plateau State to refrain from delivering provocative sermons.

He emphasized that any religious leader found guilty of such actions would be held accountable.

Plateau State has been plagued by recurring incidents of ethno-religious violence, resulting in the loss of numerous lives.

During a symposium held at the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Rukuba Barrack in Jos, Major-General Abubakar addressed the religious leaders directly. The purpose of the event was to foster better understanding and collaboration between security agencies and religious leaders.

In response, Reverend Father Boniface Nkum emphasized the importance of educating clergy members in all communities about the significance of religious harmony and tolerance towards other faiths. He also stressed the need for sermons to adhere to principles of moderation and modesty.
