Military Forces Eliminate Three Bandits, Seize Weapons and Ammunition in Kaduna

The Nigerian Army has reported that troops from 1 Division successfully neutralized three bandits and recovered arms and ammunition in Kabode village, located within the Chikun Local Government Area, as well as in Birnin Yero village within the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to a statement issued by Musa Yahaya, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 1 Division Nigerian Army, the troops acted upon reliable intelligence before engaging with the marauding bandits and criminal elements. Among the items recovered by the troops were an AK-47 rifle loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, a camo jungle hat, three mobile phones, a head warmer, an MP3 player, various charms, and the sum of N1,305.

The statement further disclosed that on the 10th of August 2023, the troops acted on credible intelligence concerning a reported kidnapping incident in Danbaba village, located in the Igabi area. In response, the troops set up an ambush at Birnin Yero. Upon spotting the troops, the bandits fled, leaving behind ten kidnapped victims. Fortunately, these rescued victims were promptly given medical attention and subsequently reunited with their families.

Major General BA Alabi, who serves as the General Officer Commanding for 1 Division Nigerian Army and also holds the position of Force Commander for Operation Whirl Punch, expressed his commendation for the troops’ actions. He also appealed to the local communities to maintain their support by providing timely and credible intelligence to the military and other security agencies.
