The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has requested Yoruba leaders in Britain to advise Femi Fani-Kayode, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to refrain from making contentious political statements.

Last week, Fani-Kayode criticized the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, accusing him of refusing to display President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s official portrait in his office.

The APC figure asserted that Otti’s decision not to exhibit the official portrait stemmed from his failure to recognize Tinubu as his president. In response to Fani-Kayode’s verbal attack on the governor, COSEYL expressed their indignation through a statement issued on Wednesday by their President General, Goodluck Ibem. Ibem described the former Minister of Aviation as “an inappropriate individual who seems to have lost track of his personal belongings.”

This call for caution from COSEYL towards Yoruba leaders seeks to address Fani-Kayode’s recent political remarks, specifically his criticism of Governor Otti. COSEYL believes that Fani-Kayode’s comments are unwarranted and that he should exercise restraint in his public statements. By urging Yoruba leaders to intervene, COSEYL hopes to foster a more harmonious and respectful political discourse among members of the APC.

“His recent attack on the Executive Governor of Abia State Dr. Alex Chioma Otti is an insult on the entire Igbo nation and we will not take such insult from a misfit like him. 

“Fani-Kayode should take his filthy mouth off the politics of Abia State. Abia state is not Yoruba land, he should know his boundaries.

“We call on Yoruba leaders to call their son Femi Fani-Kayode to order before he causes a war in the nation”, the statement added.
