The Federal Government has announced that it is conducting an investigation into the cancellation of visas for 264 passengers who were transported from Lagos and Kano to Jeddah by the Saudi Authorities on Sunday.

A statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Al-Kasim Abdulkadir, revealed that the Ministry is currently looking into the matter to determine if any consular or aviation regulations were violated.

The statement further highlighted Nigeria’s recent participation in the Saudi-Africa summit, during which both countries engaged in bilateral discussions covering various sectors of the economy and made mutually beneficial commitments.

Al-Kasim noted that although the passengers underwent the Advanced Passenger Information System (APIS) during the check-in process in Nigeria, it was also monitored by the Saudi Authorities.

However, it was discovered that when the Nigerian Embassy intervened, the Saudi Authorities agreed to reduce the number of passengers to be returned from 264 to 177.
