Federal Government assures Nigerians that the temporary pains caused by the removal of fuel subsidy will benefit the common man in the long run.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, emphasized that the previous subsidy regime only benefited a few individuals while burdening the majority.

Idris acknowledged that the initial phase of subsidy removal might be painful but emphasized that it would lead to overall improvement. He compared the situation to a pregnant woman experiencing labor pains, where the temporary discomfort is overshadowed by the joy of delivering a child.

President Bola Tinubu, according to the minister, stands with the majority of Nigerians and believes that although there may be short-term difficulties, the country will ultimately benefit from the removal of fuel subsidy. Idris highlighted Tinubu’s efforts in providing palliatives to the states and the distribution of essential commodities to alleviate immediate concerns.

The minister expressed confidence that Nigeria would be better off in the long run as a result of the subsidy removal, aligning with Tinubu’s perspective and vision for the country.
