The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reached out to the Presidency, the National Assembly Commission, the Federal Judicial Service Commission, and all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), requesting their anti-corruption strategies as part of the collective efforts to combat contract abuse.

In letters addressed to the Chief of Staff to the President, the Permanent Secretary of the State House at Aso Rock Villa, the Chairman of the National Assembly Commission, and the Secretary of the Federal Judicial Service Commission, the EFCC called for the submission of these strategies by March 1.

The directive from the anti-graft agency aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s government agenda to tackle corruption within MDAs.

This request from the EFCC follows the President’s launch of the Fraud Risk Assessment Prevention and Control Project for MDAs in January. The project aims to evaluate existing anti-corruption measures in MDAs, identify gaps and vulnerabilities, and develop strategies to mitigate corruption and other financial crimes prevalent in these agencies.

The EFCC’s letters stated, “You are kindly requested to submit a detailed anti-corruption policy or strategy implemented by your office to prevent abuse in contract and procurement processes. The commission expects your response to this request by the close of business on Friday, March 1, 2024.”
