The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is currently conducting an investigation and questioning Abdulfatah Ahmed, the former governor of Kwara State, regarding questionable financial transactions amounting to billions of naira that occurred during his time in office.

Ahmed was seen arriving at the EFCC office in Ilorin on Monday morning for the interrogation.

The anti-graft agency invited him to provide explanations about the utilization of funds during his administration.

According to reports from Vistanaij Media, Abdulfatah Ahmed served as the governor of Kwara State from May 2011 to May 2019, before handing over to the current Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

This is not the first time Ahmed has faced scrutiny by the EFCC. In May 2021, he was interrogated by a team of skilled operatives at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja regarding allegations of diverting approximately N9 billion from the Kwara State Government’s coffers.

The diversion of funds was alleged to have occurred during Ahmed’s tenure as governor as well as during his time as the Commissioner for Finance in the administration of ex-Governor Bukola Saraki.
