The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the French Embassy have reached an agreement to collaborate in tackling various forms of cyber, economic, and financial crimes in Nigeria.

According to a statement by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the decision was made during a courtesy visit by French Minister of Interior and Overseas, Laurent Baile, to the EFCC Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, at the EFCC office in Abuja.

During the meeting, the French Ambassador emphasized the need for joint investigations and intelligence sharing between the French Embassy and EFCC. He also expressed support for the EFCC’s efforts in combating financial crimes and corruption in Nigeria.

The statement further highlighted the discussions on modalities for cooperation in addressing cybercrimes and related criminal activities through joint investigations and intelligence sharing.

In response, EFCC Chairman Olukoyede reaffirmed his commitment to the fight against economic and financial crimes, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the overall interests of Nigerians. He expressed the EFCC’s dedication to promoting economic growth, stimulating development, creating employment opportunities, and removing obstacles to sustainable development.

Olukoyede also emphasized the EFCC’s determination to uphold professionalism and adhere strictly to the rule of law in carrying out its mandate.
