BEPU Grieves Loss of Cleric Injured by Bandits in Kaduna

The Birnin-Gwari Emirate Progressives Union (BEPU) has reported the sad news that Malam Yakubu Muhammad Bugai, Vice-Chairman of Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus-Sunnah (JIBWIS), Birnin-Gwari Branch, has passed away due to injuries sustained in a bandit attack.

The incident occurred when he was shot on his farm in the Rema area of Birnin-Gwari on Wednesday. Despite being rushed to Jibril Mai-Gwari General Hospital, he sadly succumbed to his injuries shortly after admission.

BEPU’s Chairman, Ishaq Usman Kasai, shared in the statement that the late Mal. Yakubu Bugai played a significant role in the Birnin-Gwari Orphans Foundation, which is dedicated to caring for numerous orphans left behind by victims of armed banditry in the region. The group also highlighted the numerous incidents of abductions and kidnappings of innocent farmers within the Local Government area.

In light of the escalating security challenges, BEPU made an earnest plea to the Federal Government to establish military detachments in the Katakaki, Gagumi, Tashar-Keji, and Bugai areas in the Western part of Birnin-Gwari. This move is seen as crucial to help curb the activities of bandits and enhance security in the affected regions.
