Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has stressed the importance of deploying advanced technology to combat the prevailing insecurity in the region.

During a meeting with Amina Mohammed, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, in Washington, D.C., Governor Lawal joined other governors from Benue, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Niger, and Zamfara states.

In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, it was revealed that the Deputy Secretary-General commended the governors for their efforts in tackling insecurity in their respective states.

Expressing the significance of technology in enhancing security measures, Governor Lawal emphasized the need for a coordinated approach to leverage its potential. He highlighted the potential benefits of artificial intelligence, biometric identification systems, and surveillance cameras.

Due to the prevailing insecurity, the governor highlighted the challenges faced in the agricultural sector. He expressed the need for assistance in transitioning from traditional farming methods to advanced agriculture that can harness technology to combat insurgency effectively.

Governor Lawal also disclosed that he had declared a state of emergency in education and healthcare. He underscored the urgency of addressing these critical areas, emphasizing the need for immediate action.
