Governor Lawal Distributes Agricultural Inputs and Assets to Farmers in Zamfara North

Under the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (N-CARES) program, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has initiated the distribution of agricultural assets and farm inputs to farmers in Zamfara North.

The flag-off ceremony took place on Thursday at Gidan Gona in Shinkafi Local Government Area.

Sulaiman Bala Idris, the governor’s spokesperson, stated that the COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Program would be launched in all three senatorial zones of the state. The Zamfara Central Senatorial Zone had its flag-off ceremony on Wednesday in the capital city of Gusau.

During the distribution in the Zamfara North Senatorial zone, Governor Dauda Lawal provided agricultural assets and essential farm inputs to the beneficiaries. These resources included seeds and seedlings that would support their farming activities for a period of four years.

The statement from the governor’s spokesperson emphasized that the Zamfara State Government is taking an integrated approach to agricultural development. Alongside providing farming inputs, the government is also committed to improving rural infrastructure. This comprehensive strategy aims to enhance the productivity of farmers, alleviate poverty, and mitigate the impact of food loss and waste.

Governor Lawal reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to allocating assets for production and the reduction of food loss and waste. This initiative is expected to significantly support farmers in increasing their productivity and improving their livelihoods while addressing the challenges of poverty in the state.

The distribution of agricultural assets and inputs to farmers in Zamfara North is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to bolster the agricultural sector and promote economic recovery in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
