Zamfara Government Reverses Ban on ZAROTA

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has given the green light to lift the ban on the operations of the Zamfara Roads Traffic Agency (ZAROTA).

Lawal Hussein, the Permanent Secretary of Cabinet Affairs, relayed this decision on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Nakwada Gusau, through a statement. This directive is set to be effective immediately.

The statement underlined the significance of the public’s adherence to the law and their collaboration with the agency as it executes its constitutional duties geared towards ensuring road safety. This move reinstates the agency’s authority to enforce traffic regulations and maintain order on the roads, emphasizing the critical role it plays in safeguarding the well-being of citizens and promoting a secure commuting environment.

It’s worth noting that the same agency faced dissolution by Governor Dauda Lawal right after assuming office. This decision signals a significant policy shift, possibly reflecting the governor’s reconsideration of the agency’s role and the importance of its functions in ensuring road safety within the state.
