Zamfara Government Denies Bread Production Ban, Clarifies Supply Chain Interruption to Bandits

The Zamfara State Government has clarified that there is no ban on bread production within the state. Governor Dauda Lawal explained that the government’s focus is specifically on disrupting the supply chain to bandits operating across the state.

This clarification comes in response to a recent directive from the Bakers’ Association in Zamfara State, instructing a halt in bread production due to the government’s ban on motorcycles delivering bread.

In a statement issued by the spokesperson for the Zamfara Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, it was clarified that the ban on bread and fuel supply to volatile areas aims to disrupt the activities of bandits who have been terrorizing the state.

The statement emphasized that the Zamfara State Government has no intention of interfering with the production or sale of bread, which is a staple food item in many households. The government is committed to supporting local businesses and ensuring that all citizens have access to essential food.

Recognizing the crucial role played by small businesses in the state’s economy, the government is dedicated to creating a conducive environment for their growth and success.

The spokesperson further explained that the government has devised a plan to counter the attacks by bandits, who have been causing chaos in certain parts of the state. This strategy includes prohibiting the supply of bread and fuel to unstable areas, disrupting the bandits’ criminal activities as they heavily rely on these essential items.

This measure is part of a broader strategy aimed at restoring peace and security to the affected areas and safeguarding the lives and properties of the people.

The government assured residents and business owners that the rumors causing confusion and concern are unfounded. It reiterated its commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in Zamfara State.
