The Zamfara State government has announced that 10 individuals have been apprehended in relation to the murder of Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada, a highly respected Islamic scholar.

Earlier reports indicated that the incident occurred when members of the state’s security outfit, Community Protection Guards (CPG), allegedly invaded Sheikh Mada’s residence and took him away for questioning regarding the security crisis in the state.

However, a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, clarified that the arrested suspects are not affiliated with the CPG. Instead, preliminary investigations have revealed that they are members of a banned vigilante group.

The tragic killing of Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada has sent shockwaves through the community, and the government is determined to seek justice for his loss. The arrest of these suspects marks a significant development in the investigation, and further efforts are underway to uncover the complete truth and identify any additional individuals involved.

The government urges the public to remain calm and patient as investigations continue. It is crucial that justice is served, and those responsible for this heinous crime are held accountable.
