President Bola Tinubu has called on members of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) to adopt a collective approach in addressing road infrastructure, disregarding the classification of federal, state, or rural roads.

He emphasized the need for close collaboration between the federal and state governments to ensure rapid infrastructural development across the nation.

During a meeting with the NGF at his residence in Lagos, President Tinubu expressed his commitment to prioritizing the welfare of Nigerian children. He stressed the importance of reinstating the school feeding program, starting at the local government level and extending to the state and federal levels. The President urged the governors to protect children and prepare them for the future.

President Tinubu also condemned the recent killings in Plateau State and reiterated the mutual responsibility of the federal and sub-national governments to maintain peace and stability in the country. He directed security agencies to take immediate action to halt the violence and apprehend those responsible.

Acknowledging the presence of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, President Tinubu commended his efforts in peacefully resolving political challenges in the state and emphasized the significance of peace for effective governance.

Regarding the 2024 budget proposals, the President informed the governors about a review meeting held earlier in the day with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the chairman of the NGF and Governor of Kwara State, expressed solidarity with Plateau State and offered support for the decisions and reforms initiated by President Tinubu’s administration. He acknowledged the challenges faced due to the removal of fuel subsidies but expressed confidence in overcoming them and bouncing back stronger.

The meeting provided an opportunity for President Tinubu and the governors to discuss key issues and collaborate on strategies to address the nation’s infrastructure and security challenges.
