On Friday, His Eminence Ekpeyong Akpanika, the Prelate and Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, expressed his dismay over the removal of fuel subsidy by the current administration led by Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Akpanika strongly criticized the decision, emphasizing that it has led to unprecedented hardship and suffering among Nigerians.

According to him, “Nigerians are currently suffering as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy, so leaders can provide free transportation to cushion the effects.” 

Prelate Akpanika revealed this during his sermon at the burial ceremony of the late Senator Anyim Ude, which was held in Iyioji Akaeze, Ivo LGA of the state.

He called upon the nation’s leaders to follow the example of the deceased and recognize that worldly riches are transient.

Meanwhile, the burial was attended by dignitaries including the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and the Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru. They assured the family of the deceased that they would not let them suffer.

Late Anyim Ude served as a senator representing the Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone during the 6th assembly. Senator David Umahi, former governor of Ebonyi State, represented Akpabio at the event, praising the indelible legacies left by the deceased.

Governor Nwifuru also acknowledged the efforts of the late senator’s wife in caring for him during his lifetime.
