Officers of the Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday evening stormed the home of Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti.

In a video making rounds on the internet, the men of the police command had raided his house in Allen Avenue while the singer, who was handcuffed, waited inside one of the police vehicles.

The spokesperson of the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, says a warrant was duly obtained for the raid.

The video has since created a stir on the internet as many questioned the need for the raid.

One commenter named Party pack by May wrote, “Raid his home for allegedly assaulting a police officer? Is his home the crime scene? Wahala.”

Another commenter, Bobby Fredrick, wrote, “Raid his home for what exactly, Abi he hide the hand he use stop the police officer for house??”

Expressing disbelief, Dare Fasasi wrote, “Are they looking for the hand he used in slapping the police officer or what? This is so unnecessary.”

Alimery added, “I don’t get it. Why did they raid his home? What are they looking for?”

6ixtunes questioned, “This happened at 3rd mainland bridge. Why are they raiding his home? Seems the NPF is now looking for reasons outside the initial cause to mail him. Once again a failed system.”

Like Felicity cautioned, “Dey slap person for junction, them go de raid him house even after arrest. I sense they really want to mess this guy up. We all should just learn to control our anger. Anytime anyone wants to be stupid to provoke you to anger just bring out your phone and go live on any social media platform.”

Mr. Augustine criticized the police, stating, “These people no sabi work at all. Na just oppression. Person slap police una go raid him house this Twitter werey too dey say warrant if you tender your warrant to the judge and ask what’s probably cause of obtaining a warrant to search the house una go say cause he slap police? Judge wey sabi work go throw una case to dustbin even if una find evidence for him house. Na copy and paste una kukuma do.“
