Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has called on the Federal Government to initiate an investigation into the bombing incident that took place in Kaduna State on December 3.

During his visit to Tudun Biri village in the Igabi Local Government Area of the state, where over 120 villagers were mistakenly killed by the Nigerian army, Obi emphasized the importance of conducting a thorough probe. He also visited the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in the state capital, where he met with victims who had been injured in the tragic misfiring.

Expressing his concern, the former governor of Anambra state highlighted that the country has experienced 16 accidental military bombings, resulting in the loss of over 500 lives. He criticized the Federal Government for not taking sufficient action to prevent the recurrence of such tragedies.

Obi emphasized the necessity of supporting the military to prevent future accidental bombings. He stressed that adequate funding for the military is crucial in addressing the security challenges faced by the nation.
