Pastor Bakare – I Cautioned Nigerians Against Backing Tinubu’s ‘Emilokan’ Politics Amidst Hardship

Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, revealed that he had cautioned his congregation against endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Emilokan” politics.

The term “Emilokan,” which translates to “It’s my turn” in Yoruba, gained popularity during President Bola Tinubu’s campaign leading up to the 2023 elections.

According to Bakare, he believed that the concept of “emilokan” represented a tendency towards authoritarianism.

The cleric said, “I’m reminded of the warning that I sounded to Nigerians in January 2023 in my address titled, ‘Bridging the gap between politics and governance.’

“I warned that the politics of entitlement, the’ emilokan’ type of politics, would breed an imperium presidency, one that would slide towards dictatorship and be intolerant of dissent.”

Bakare participated in the previous year’s All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary, where Tinubu emerged as the chosen candidate.
