The Ondo State Redemption Initiative (OSRI), a socio-political group, has expressed its concerns regarding certain individuals in Ondo State who are allegedly working to obstruct President Bola Tinubu‘s intervention in the political crisis within the state.

In a joint statement signed by Pastor Adebayo Ogunsanmi, Chairman of OSRI, and Jide Oriola and Sunday Ayeni, Secretary and Publicity Secretary respectively, the group alleges that individuals supporting the deputy governor have openly rejected the peaceful solution proposed by President Tinubu.

It is recalled that President Tinubu intervened in the crisis by convening stakeholders in the state at the presidential villa, where resolutions were reached.

The state has been in crisis due to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s prolonged absence from the state due to ill health, as well as a plot to impeach the deputy governor.

According to OSRI, supporters of Aiyedatiwa, the deputy governor, have engaged prominent lawyers to advocate for the implementation of the doctrine of necessity. The group claims that there is an underground plot to declare Governor Akeredolu incapacitated and install the deputy governor as the acting governor.

OSRI emphasizes that these actions by Aiyedatiwa’s supporters undermine the reconciliation and unity efforts made by President Tinubu.

“We are aware that Aiyedatiwa was asked to sign an undated letter of resignation during the Abuja resolution in the presence of the president,” stated OSRI.

However, the Ondo State League of Young Professionals has refuted this claim, labeling it as false. Olaleye Akinola, the group’s spokesperson, clarified that the deputy governor has not made any public statements regarding the outcome of the meeting, unlike other participants.
