Reno Omokri, a prominent socio-political activist, has made it clear that he refrains from criticizing President Bola Tinubu, particularly in light of the recent decision to suspend the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa.

Omokri explained his stance by highlighting Tinubu’s notable actions during his initial two weeks in office. According to Omokri, Tinubu put an end to the subsidy regime, resolved a nationwide strike, and addressed the issue of multiple exchange rates.

Despite being a vocal critic of Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), Omokri shared his perspective in a tweet, stating his reasons for not attacking Tinubu.

President Bola Tinubu made the decision to suspend the EFCC Chairman indefinitely in order to facilitate a thorough investigation into the serious allegations leveled against him.

“And you want me to attack the man who achieved this in just two weeks? I think I have to clarify my stance and stand. I am an opposition politician. That means I oppose the party in power and offer a better alternative when they do wrong.

“And I will do everything possible to ensure Waziri Atiku Abubakar gets the redress he seeks at the Presidential Election Petition Court.

“However, I am very much not a secessionist agitator hiding under political activism to undermine Nigeria. I love Nigeria, and I want her to succeed. And for that, I have no apologies.”
