Ministerial Nomination: Similar to Buhari, Tinubu Unable to Appoint Minister for Petroleum

Ministerial Nomination: Similar to Buhari, Tinubu Unable to Appoint Minister for Petroleum

President Bola Tinubu has encountered a setback in his efforts to designate a minister for petroleum resources while allocating ministerial roles.

This contrasts with the approach taken by former President Muhammadu Buhari’s previous administration, in which he held the Minister of Petroleum portfolio himself.

Nonetheless, Buhari had appointed Timipre Sylva as the Minister of State for Petroleum. In contrast, Tinubu has chosen to divide the ministry into two separate entities as he constructs his cabinet.

This observation by Vistanaij Mediawas substantiated by Bayo Onanuga, the Director of Media and Publicity for the now-disbanded Tinubu-Shettima Campaign Organisation.

A statement by Onanuga reads partly: “Surprises as President Tinubu releases portfolios of ministers. Tinubu has not named the Minister of Petroleum.

“The ministry, however, has been broken into two, with 2 ministers of state, all from the South South.”
