Massive fire outbreak ravages Oyo market, causing millions of naira worth of goods to be destroyed

In a tragic incident, a market in Oyo town, Oyo State, experienced a destructive fire outbreak, leading to the destruction of goods and property worth millions of naira.

The Ajegunle market, situated along Oyo/Ogbomoso road, was particularly affected, with the garri processing area being the main target of the fire.

According to sources, the fire is believed to have originated from an improperly extinguished frying cubicle after the close of production the previous night. The flames quickly spread, engulfing rows of prefabricated garri processing shops.

The General Manager of Oyo State Fire Service, Akinyinka Akinyemiju, confirmed the incident and stated that the fire service swiftly responded to the scene. Their immediate action involved taking preventive measures to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to other sections of the market.

The extent of the damage caused by the fire is significant, with numerous goods and properties destroyed. The authorities and emergency response teams are working diligently to assess the situation and provide necessary support to the affected individuals and businesses.
