Labour strike: There’s no issue, we are not worried – FG assures Nigerians

The Federal Government has expressed its lack of concern regarding the potential strike, as the 21-day ultimatum issued by the organized labour is set to conclude on Thursday.

The Minister of Labour, Simon Lalong, made this statement after a meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday evening.

During the meeting held last Monday, the parties did not reach an agreement.

Lalong stated, “I don’t think there is any problem. We don’t have any fears about some of the things they (labour) put on the table and also the suggestions and the package of the Federal Government.”

He further mentioned, “As for me, I don’t think there is any problem. We have no doubt and that’s why, in many of our meetings with them, we did not end up boxing ourselves. We hope that the best is going to come. Don’t worry about that. That’s why I said it’s a friendly engagement we are having with them,” in response to a question about the impending strike.
