The Omala Women Forum in Kogi State has declared a three-day period of fasting and prayers.

Expressing their concern over the recent attack that claimed the lives of 25 individuals, the group strongly condemned the assaults and indiscriminate slaying of innocent locals, as well as the wanton destruction of properties in Agojeju-Odo, Omala Local Government Area. The attacks are believed to have been carried out by suspected herders.

Chief Hon. Alima Abuh, the Iye Ebulejonu of Igala Kingdom, issued a statement on behalf of the group, unequivocally denouncing the incident and demanding that the perpetrators face the full weight of the law.

The statement emphasized the tragic loss of lives and the substantial destruction of properties worth millions of naira, declaring zero tolerance for those who disregard human dignity and the fundamental principles of peaceful coexistence.

The group called upon the government to urgently conduct a comprehensive on-site assessment of the scale of killings and property destruction perpetrated by the assailants. They urged swift relief and support for the victims.

Mobilising their members across the 11 wards of the local government area, the Omala Women Forum initiated a three-day fasting and prayer period to beseech the deities of their ancestral lands and the Almighty God they collectively worship. They expressed confidence that their fervent supplications during this time of mourning and grief would be heard.
