Kenneth Omeruo Acknowledges Super Eagles Struggles in 2023 AFCON

Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo has raised concerns about the delayed payment of their bonuses and allowances during the 2023 AFCON tournament.

Despite the setback, Omeruo emphasized that the team remains focused on their games and is confident that they will receive their dues. He also dismissed rumors of discontent within the team regarding the captaincy of Ahmed Musa, stating that the players are united and committed to their performance on the pitch.

Omeruo’s comments come in contrast to earlier statements from the Nigerian Football Federation, which commended the Central Bank of Nigeria for prompt payments. However, the issue persists, with Omeruo’s revelation shedding light on the ongoing challenges faced by the players.

Despite the financial concerns, the Super Eagles have shown resilience on the field, advancing to the semi-finals of the tournament after a victory against Angola. Their next challenge awaits them against either South Africa or Cape Verde on February 7.
