The Kano State Agro-pastoral Development Project (KSADP) has given its approval for the allocation of approximately £1.1 million to enhance the facilities at the Dawanau International Grains Market.

This announcement was made through a statement by Mr Ameen Yassar, the Project Communication Specialist overseeing the project in Kano.

Funding for this project comes from the Islamic Development Bank and the Lives and Livelihood funds. The proposed facilities encompass a four-kilometer road, drainage infrastructure, and street lighting. The contract for the construction of these components has been awarded to Labor Technical Services Ltd. at a total cost of approximately £950,000.

Furthermore, a separate contract has been awarded to AITEC Infraconsult Ltd. at a cost of approximately £170,000. This contract covers the construction of three blocks, which will house lavatories, a mosque, a police outpost, offices, and a conference room.

The KSADP anticipates that the project will be completed within a 12-month timeframe, contributing to the overall development and enhancement of the Dawanau International Grains Market.
