INEC Staff Presents BVAs Report in Court for Kaduna Gubernatorial Election

On Tuesday, Mr. Bonet Gwaza, a system analyst with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), appeared as a witness before the Kaduna State governorship election petition tribunal in Kaduna.

His purpose was to present the BVAs (Biometric Voter Authentication System) report for the 23 local government areas. Alongside the report, other exhibits included INEC’s form EC40G for Igabi west constituency.

During the proceedings, Mr. Gwaza also provided the voters’ register for Kauru, Lere, Zaria, and Igabi local government areas to the panel led by Justice Victor Oviawie.

The presentation of these exhibits to the tribunal was in response to a subpoena application filed by the legal team representing the 1st and 2nd respondents, namely the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Isa Ashiru.

The case has been adjourned to Wednesday, July 12, 2023, for the continuation of cross-examination of the witness.
