Mr Chinedu Amadi, a governorship aspirant under the Labour Party in Imo, has cautioned against vote-buying during the primary election.

Speaking at a news conference in Owerri, Amadi urged delegates to avoid actions that could jeopardize the future of the state during the exercise scheduled for April 15.

He emphasized the need for a transparent process devoid of irregularities to ensure that the best candidate emerges, adding that the right candidate would be elected only through a transparent election that reflects the choice of the electorate.

Amadi also identified insecurity as one of the major problems confronting Imo and called for strategic stakeholder involvement, such as traditional rulers, in the fight against insecurity to achieve faster results. Additionally, he suggested the need to harness the state’s resources to improve the quality of life and life expectancy of the people, particularly by supporting and building the capacity of youth and women entrepreneurs in the non-oil sector.
